This numeric data package was originally published in 1987, and included a printed document, and a magnetic tape. The magnetic tape contained four data files: a descriptive file; a fortran retrieval code to read and print the surface sample data taken along the cruise tract of the US-USSR Weddell Polynya Expedition (WEPOLEX-81), and the Expedition's vertical stations data; the surface sample data taken along the cruise tract of the US-USSR Weddell Polynya Expedition (WEPOLEX-81), and the US-USSR Weddell Polynya Expedition vertical station data.
Although this online version of NDP028 varies slightly from the original publication format, it provides comparable information. The data files have not changed, and are provided in their origional format. The major difference is that this electronic version does not include the following literature originally published within the printed documentation:
Chen, C.T. 1984. Carbonate chemistry of the Weddell Sea. TR008.
U.S. Department of Energy, Carbon Dioxide Research Division,
Washington, D.C.
Chen, C.T. 1982. Carbonate chemistry during WEPOLEX-81. Antarctic
Journal of the United States, 1982 Review, Volume XVII (5):102.
Takahashi, T. and D. Chipman. 1982. Carbon dioxide partial pressure
in surface waters of the southern ocean. Antarctic Journal of the
United States, 1982 Review, Volume XVII (5):103-104.
Poisson, A. and C.T. Chen. 1987. Why is there little anthropogenic
CO2 in the Antarctic Bottom Water? Deep-Sea Research,

Hardcopies of this literature may be obtained by ordering the printed document
from CDIAC. See the section herein entitled How to
