Global Mean Sea Level
The graph on this page is generated from data taken from the "Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry / Sea Level Rise" page on the Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) website. The graph shows the composite sea level measurements from three earth-orbiting satellites, TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, and Jason-2. The TOPEX/Poseidon satellite, was launched in 1992, the Jason-1 satellite was launched in 2001, and the Jason-2 satellite was launched in 2008. These satellites provide sustained radar altimetry observations and continuous data on sea surface height with great accuracy.

The plot above is generated from dataset: the TOPEX, Jason-1, and Jason-2 data for mean sea level with seasonal signals removed. The historical trend is 2.9 ± 0.4 mm/year. Altimetry data are provided by the NOAA Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry.
